Farming is a family & community endeavour

It involves taking time to observe and reflect, learn and adapt, while cultivating humility, awe, and wonder. It means dispensing with perfection and control and instead embracing dancing with creation, including the inevitable stumbles. And then delighting in and giving thanks for the gifts of the garden, like a delicious, crunchy carrot!

Persephone Market Garden is run by Kristine Hammel, Thorsten Arnold, and their children Oscar, Marilla & Frieda. Each year, 1 to 3 staff members join the team. Many hands make hard work light and fun!

Vegetables & herbs

We grow more than 40 types of vegetables and herbs.

Ducks & geese

We pasture ducks and geese for meat and pasture health.

Sheep, lamb & fleeces

Persephone is home to a small flock of Romney sheep.

Eggs

A colourful flock of laying hens shares the pastures with our sheep.
